Remtec is South Africa's leading remanufacturer of petrol and diesel engines for light commercial and passenger vehicles.
Originally established in 1963 as Volkswagen Remanufacturing to remanufacture engines for VW SA, the facility was purchased by a Port Elizabeth-based concern in July 1995 and relocated from Uitenhage to PE. Remtec is currently the exclusive, approved supplier of remanufactured engines to Volkswagen SA, General Motors SA, Ford SA, Nissan SA and Land Rover SA.
The 4'000 square metre facility was the first large-scale remanufacturer in South Africa with its design being used as as the basis for other OE remanufacturing plants.
Remtec premium engines are not reconditioned. They are completely remanufactured from scratch with genuine, new OE or OE approved parts and machined back to the OE's (original manufacturer’s) specifications.
Unlike reconditioning, remanufacturing is a specific, monitored process in a controlled environment: Engines scheduled for production (units) basically start off as bare blocks (core input) and, after various machining phases & stages, continue through the factory to assembly, then testing and are finally crated before they are ready for sale/dispatching.
Remtec has national aftersales support with representatives in most major centres, a dedicated Service Centre in PE which is there to assist you with whatever query you may have and a Warranty Department that co-ordinates matters in conjunction with our technical representatives &/or the national technical/workshop support base.
Remtec has also entered into a contract with the AA (Automobile Association) whereby an engine fitted in a non-commercial application is offered with an exclusive Fleetcare Roadside Assistance membership for the vehicle itself. It covers you for a number of motoring mishaps like running out of fuel, locking keys in the car, flat tyres, etc. It includes a towing service, minor roadside repairs and also emergency medical services.
